Moodle External Tool (LTI): Preconfigured tool setup

These instructions assume your publisher’s representatives have worked with Online Learning to set up a preconfigured tool for an LTI integration of their software.

If this has not been done, please connect online@clackamas.edu with your publisher’s representative. If you only wish to try a tool or set it up in a single course, review those instructions which are linked here.

Enter your Moodle Course and Turn editing on from the Actions menu (gear icon) in the top-right corner of the page.

Turn Editing On button is found in the top-right corner of a Moodle page you have permission to modify content for.

Scroll to the section you want to add the item(s) to.

Click the Add an activity or resource link.

Select the External tool activity (indicated by a green puzzle-piece icon).

Set the Activity name for the External tool.

If the Moodle Admin has worked with your publisher and created a Preconfigured tool, you can select it from the drop-down menu. Otherwise, see the instructions for a one-time External tool for your course.

OPTIONAL: Some External tools can be further tailored and/or accept additional, custom information provided by your publisher. This can be found by clicking the Show more… link and using the Custom parameters field.

Expand the Grade section.

Set the Maximum grade to the desired value in the Moodle gradebook.
OR
Set the Grade Type to None to keep this activity from appearing in your Moodle gradebook.

Scroll to the bottom of the page.

Click the Save and display button to try out your tool.
