Welcome to our weekly BLOG: The Moodle Newdle. We’ll introduce you to some new Moodle features, as well as explore some of those you might have missed or forgotten. We hope to cover: communication, accessibility, multimedia, and more.
Uploading a document is a first step, but the real magic is in how you present the file to your students. Start small: when you add a File resource, give it a name that makes sense at first glance, something like: Week 2 Equity Reading instead of reading2final.docx. Then add a quick note underneath the filename so students know exactly what to do with the resource, e.g. Read before Friday’s discussion.
Got more than one file for the week? That’s where the Folder resource shines. Instead of a long list of scattered files, students see one folder with everything they need in one spot. You can drop in a visual cue, too, like an icon or image in the description, to help students instantly recognize whether it’s a reading, video, or guide. A little consistency with clear names + organized folders = less confusion. Students will spend less time searching and more time engaging.
