Welcome to our weekly BLOG: The Moodle Newdle. We’ll introduce you to some new Moodle features, as well as explore some of those you might have missed or forgotten. We hope to cover: communication, accessibility, multimedia, and more.

A well-organized Gradebook in Moodle sets the tone for a smooth experience for both you and your students. Taking a few minutes at the start of the term to create categories—like Homework, Quizzes, or Discussions—can help students clearly see how each assignment or submission connects to their overall progress in the course. Most importantly, confirm that your Gradebook aligns with the expectations outlined in your Course Syllabus.

Pro Tip: Configure the grading settings so Moodle handles the scoring for practice/low-stakes activities and quizzes. Students benefit from getting instant feedback and knowing their progress throughout the course, while you gain valuable insights into areas where they may be struggling. That early information gives you the chance to step in, clarify concepts, and support student success when it matters most.
