Upload a video to the Kaltura Media Gallery

This is the suggested method for uploading video content into Moodle for Instructors for long-term multimedia.

Upload Video to a Course’s Media Gallery

Enter into the Moodle Course you’d like to include the video in.

Expand the Nav Drawer if it’s not already open on the left.

Select the Media Gallery item.

Click the Add media button in the top-right corner of the page.

Click the ADD NEW link to open the menu, a popup menu will appear.

Click the Media Upload option to upload an existing video file such as an MP4 or MOV.

Either drag and drop the desired file into the dashed box or click the Choose a file to upload button and select your desired video.

While the file is uploading you modify the Name and Description of the video.

Once the file is ready to go a green, in-page popup will appear letting you know the Media successfully published.

Click the Save button.

OPTIONAL: Click the Go to media link if you’d like to make any adjustments like upload captions or enable students or others to download this video.

You may not immediatly see the video in your Media Gallery, don’t panic!
It can take a while for the video to finish processing.

Using the Media Gallery video in your Course

After you have uploaded Multimedia the to Media Gallery it’s easy for you to grab it and add it to content within your Moodle Course.

 

Enter into the Moodle activity or resource you’d like to include a video, anywhere you see the Atto text editor will do.

Click the Kaltura icon "Rainbow Snowflake" Kaltura Icon Button.

A new window (or tab) will appear.

Locate your video below and click the associated Embed button.

NOTE: If you don’t see your video or you used it in another course (you still have access to) click the Media Galleries tab at the top of the page and select the course in question.

You will asked to Preview your video to ensure it’s the right one. Click the Embed button in the bottom-left corner of the page.

While still editing your Moodle activity or resource you’ll see your Kaltura video as a link, this is working as expected.

Once you save your changes or otherwise post your content you’ll see the proper video preview and video controls at the bottom of it.
