Welcome to our weekly BLOG: The Moodle Newdle. We’ll introduce you to some new Moodle features, as well as explore some of those you might have missed or forgotten.

YuJa Panorama’s Alternative Formats (signified by a blue accessibility icon for students) provide equitable and inclusive access to course materials for all users. While essential for students with disabilities—such as visual impairments, learning disabilities, or physical limitations—alternative formats offer flexible ways to engage with content based on individual needs, preferences, or learning environments. Original instructional materials are converted into accessible alternatives, including:

  • Source File – the documents in their original format.
  • PDF – the documents in PDF format.
  • Text File – the document in a text format without any formatting.
  • Immersive Reader – customized text with audio playback.
  • Gradient Reader – gradated text.
  • EPUB – the document in eBook format.
  • Braille – the document in Braille format (a Braille reader is required).
  • Audio Podcast – audio playback.
  • Enhanced HTML – HTML documents can be customized (for dyslexia, color blindness, etc.) with the Website Accessibility tool.
  • OCR – machine-coded text that can be searched and read by screen readers.
  • Language Translation – translate to over 100 languages.

Additionally, the Website Accessibility Widget (signified by a red accessibility icon) enables users to personalize the appearance and functionality of web content. Users may choose from seven (7) predefined profiles—Visually Impaired, Motor Impaired, Color Blind, Dyslexia, Cognitive & Learning, ADHD, and Seizure & Epileptic—or create a custom configuration to meet their needs.
