Activity Completion: Student Must View a Resource

These steps require that completion tracking be enabled in your course.

A common activity is to have a student has view a resource such as course syllabus, video, etc. You can set up Activity Completion to mark a resource as complete if the student opens a resource.

Locate the resource (file, book, page, …) you want to verify students have accessed.

If Editing is turned on, click the Edit menu (three vertical dots) and click the Edit Settings option.

OR

Click into the activity or resource and from the secondary navigation click the Settings link.

Expand the Completion conditions section.

Select the Add requirements option.

Check View the activity.

NOTE: For a Moodle Book to be marked as complete a student needs to view all chapters. If you do not want to require this you should consider having the student manually mark as complete instead.

If you would like students to view the resource by a specific date you can enable and change the Set reminder in Timeline date. This won’t prevent students from accessing the resource beyond that date but will post a reminder on the Timeline and Calendar located on the Dashboard.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page.

Click the Save and return to course button.

With Edit mode turned on you can select Edit conditions from the Completion drop-down to modify these settings at a later date.
