Extra Credit

You can identify an extra credit item from the Gradebook Setup view. The Max grade will followed by a dashed underlined + symbol.

Make an item Extra Credit

If you want your category to contain an extra credit grade items you need to set the aggregation to one of our suggested aggregation methods: Natural or Simple weighted mean of grades. 

NOTE: Extra credit grade items are not an option in a category that has aggregation set to Weighted mean of grades.

If you are in a category that allows extra credit you can use these steps to mark the grade item (manual or Moodle Activity) as extra credit.

Select the Grades option from the secondary navigation.

Select the Gradebook Setup option from the drop-down. 

Click the Edit menu to the right of the Grade Item you want to make extra credit.

Click the Edit settings option.

Expand the Parent category section.

Check the box next to Extra credit.

NOTE: If you don’t see the extra credit option, verify the category aggregation is set to Natural or Simple weighted mean of grades.

Click the Save changes button.

Repeat as desired for each grade item you want to be extra credit.
